Greensboro Metal Thieves Caught Red Handed
When I arrived at work this morning a man was waiting to tell us that six brand new structural steel beams, valued at over $1000.00 each, had been stolen from his business sometime last night. I listened as the stolen beams were described then asked, "Do they look like the ones on the back of that truck pulling up on my scale?"
That's right, the owner of the stolen property was at our place of business before the thieves-- our first customers of the day-- arrived, their stolen bounty weighing the bumper of the truck almost to the ground, The police were called and three men were taken to jail before breakfast. Before 10 AM the man was picking up his steel beams to return them to his place of business so that he could paint them and deliver them to his customer.
And for once we don't look like the bad guys.
Night before last our own business was victim to metal thieves. It's not something we at Salvage America take lightly and our books are always open to police as we work to end Greensboro's current crime spree.
